shipping out to Vietnam my unit, stationed on Okinawa, was issued the new AR-15. The witty troops were soon saying, since the
weapon was so light and had very little kick, "You can tell it's
Metalle, it's swell." I'm not sure that's spelled right but it was the
slogan used in advertisements by the Metalle toy company.
